Présentation

For 15 years, with the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge, the open dissemination of scientific publications has mainly taken place in two ways: the authors, or their organizations, deposit an authorized version of their article in an open repository (the green road), or the article is published in an open access journal (the gold road).

Since then, new ways of co-constructing research and disseminating scientific results (publications, research data) have emerged and propose new ways of collaborating and sharing knowledge. This is Open Science associated with open data and open access.

Research organizations such as IRD, CIRAD and UCAD (Cheikh Anta Diop University) have taken on board these new ways of sharing research outputs. They opted very early on for open access to scientific publications and are now implementing a policy of opening up the data arising from their research work. The situation in developing countries is highly contrasting, yet open science acts as a driver in facilitating collaboration, conducting quality research, widely disseminating research results, and enhancing the visibility of players and their notoriety.

The target audience is scientific information managers, representatives from research institutions or organizations in charge of research policy, and researchers themselves wishing to share their data and publications. The conference will present national, regional, international or local incentive policies as well as feedback and practical cases to encourage or infuse new impetus for open science.

It will focus on research issues in the French-speaking countries of the South.

*  Open Science in the South and in French-speaking Southern countries
*  Open Science Movement: state of play and policies
*  Doing Open Science. Methodology and tools
*  Practical cases and feedback

This conference is being jointly organized by IRD, CIRAD and Cheikh Anta Diop University. The conference is part of IRD’s 75th anniversary celebrations.
